Getting the tram to Manchester Airport

It couldn’t be easier to use the Metrolink tram services to travel to and from the airport, as it stops right at Manchester Airport Station. It is then just a 5 - 15 minute walk to get to and from the terminals, depending on which one you’re visiting. Travel updates can be found on the Bee Network.

With over 90 stops, the Metrolink connects all parts of Manchester, no matter where you’re heading. Trams run direct from Manchester Airport to Victoria Station, in Manchester City Centre. Alternatively, there are frequent connections to the rest of the network, with trams heading towards Altrincham, Bury, Ashton-under-Lyne, East Didsbury, Eccles, Rochdale and the Trafford Centre. How often do the services run?

Trams run every 12 minutes, but this could vary on public holidays. You can find information about the first and last tram times on the Metrolink website.

Where can I buy a ticket?

There's a few different ways to pay for your tram ticket.

Contactless
You can use your contactless card, phone or smart watch to tap in and out at stations.

Bee Network app
You can buy tickets on the the Bee Network app. It's available to download from the  Google Play Store and the  Apple App Store.

Cash and card
Tickets are available from machines on every platform at all stops, but not on board trams, so you’ll need to buy a ticket before you travel.

Smart Card
A Bee Card account is perfect if you want to buy tickets in advance or on behalf of others. You do this up to 7 days before travel, and tickets will be available the day after you buy. Just use a smart reader at a tram stop to collect it.

What time are the first and last trams to Manchester Airport?

Trams run to and from the airport throughout Greater Manchester, so the first and last tram times will be dependent on the station you're travelling to/from. If you're heading to Ashton-under-Lyne, trams run every 6 minutes or every 12 minutes; all tram times can be found on the TFGM website.

What is Manchester Airport Metrolink?

The Metrolink at Manchester Airport is the tram line which provides connections throughout Greater Manchester. The Metrolink station is located within the train station; only a short walk between both terminals. For further information on tram services and timetables please see TFGM.
